We recommend that children be at least 5 years old and suggest hiring a private guide.

Yes, cabins have private bathrooms and hot showers.

We recommend planning your trip at least one month, but it may be possible even one day before the departure if there is availability.

Since October 2022 there are no vaccination requirements to enter Ecuador.

Transportation Quito – Lago Agrio – Quito, transportation, or transfer services to and/or from any other destination domestic flights including Coca or Lago Agrio, alcoholic beverages, and additional drinks, personal expenses, tips for drivers and guides, a USD 5 donation per person for the preparation of the ā€œcasaveā€ to be paid in cash only to the local community.

Transportation Lago Agrio- Cuyabeno Lodge- Lago Agrio, accommodations, all meals (starting with lunch and finishing with breakfast), pure water, tea, coffee, and fruits, all excursions detailed in the programs with a native guide and visit to the local community. A rain poncho and rubber boots are provided when needed.

We recommend you contact your family physician, or your local travel clinic for the most up-to-date health information at least one month before departure. For your safety, please advise us of any medical or food condition that may affect you while traveling.

If you are carrying prescription medication or require any assistance, please bring with you a signed and dated letter from your physician stating health problems and dosage requirements for any medication, to be provided to medical authorities in case of an emergency.

All meals are included during your stay at Cuyabeno Lodge (starting with lunch and finishing with breakfast), pure water, tea, coffee, and fruits. Alcohol and additional drinks are extra. Our chefs provide a variety of excellent local, national, and international dishes. For the preparation of all food, including salads, juices, and ice, we use purified bottled water.

A carefully chosen expedition team will lead your adventures at Cuyabeno Lodge. Recruited not only for their local knowledge but also for their great love of the Amazon, they gladly share their knowledge in the field and during lectures, briefings, and discussions, on everything from birdwatching, biology, geography, geology, and history to ecological and social concerns (and much more).

Your help is very important to minimize your footprint in Cuyabeno Lodge. Please, avoid using devices that produce strange sounds.

Do not wear perfume or perfumed sprays as the sweet scent can attract insects.

Don’t throw or drop anything along the trails, even biodegradable food.

Avoid bright-colored shirts while in the forest, as they may scare the animals.

Cuyabeno Lodge boasts a first-rate, dedicated staff, highly experienced in jungle tourism, emergencies, and guest service, who will be always available to share their knowledge, enthusiasm, and commitment to the environment with you.

No smoking in the forest, nor the boats (which carry gasoline).

No littering.

Do not harass wildlife – when sighting wildlife follows your guide’s instructions.

No wildlife collection or manipulation. If you should come across hurt wildlife, leave it be. It is part of the natural processes of the wilderness.

Please separate your trash in the proper trash bins. Please take the batteries back with you.

Stay on the trails and enter the trails only with a guide. If for some reason you are separated from your guide, you can return to the lodge using your map and the trail markers.

Always use life jackets on the boat and during boarding. Wear light shoes that are easy to take off. Never have rubber boots on when in the boats.

Use rubber boots when heading to the forest or gardens at night. They reduce the risk of snake bites.
