LOCATION
The Lodge is located in the Cuyabeno Reserve in north-east Ecuador. We are directly on the āLaguna Grandeā right where you can find lots of wildlife and spectacular sunsets. Our lodgeās unique location offers the perfect combination of seclusion and quick access to the highlights of the Reserve. Our exact coordinates are:Ā 00°00ā21.6ā North 76°10ā47.7ā East.
The reserve covers over 602.000 hectares of primary rainforest and possesses an incredible variety of wildlife such as river dolphins, caimans, anacondas, monkeys, spiders, and butterflies. The bird life is spectacular, you may see the prehistoric-looking Hoatzin stinkbird, Umbrella bird, Blue-headed parrot, Scarlet macaw, and the legendary Harpy eagle.
The rainforest continues to be home to different communities ofĀ ancient indigenous tribes such as the Siona, the Secoya andĀ the Cofan. Each has lived in the Amazon Basin for thousandsĀ of years. The Cuyabeno Reserve and Cuyabeno Lodge areĀ unique places in the Amazon Rainforest that give you theĀ bestĀ opportunity to observe the flora and fauna, but to also learnĀ more about the cultures of the people.Ā
One of the best ways to explore the rainforest is by canoe. This is an advantage at Cuyabeno, beingĀ located on Laguna Grande. This way, you have the opportunity to view this wet and wild greenĀ world close-up and in a highly rewarding way.
SERVICES
Accommodations are 1 suite and 3 superior rooms with an exceptional lookout! There are also 6 standards plus, and 4 standard rooms. Each cabin has a private bathroom with hot running water, towels, and amenities such as shampoo, conditioner, and soap. Triple rooms can be arranged as well as one quadruple room.
Lodge facilities consist of a restaurant, a reading and information room, and a bar. Meals served are international dishes, as well as traditional Ecuadorian specialties. Special diets can be catered to at no additional cost if your travel agent is informed during booking.
Electricity is provided by solar energy and our canoe transportation is provided by local Siona Natives.
